Emerging Markets ETFs Outperform in July
Exchange traded funds that track emerging markets indices outperformed the broader market in July according to the WSJ’s Shefali Anand.
The $30 billion iShares MSCI Emerging Markets Index Fund (EEM) gained 11% in July, compared to 7.4% for the SPDR S&P 500 (SPY).
The Direxion Daily Emerging Markets Bull 3x Shares (EDC) rose by more than 30% in July.
Investors appear to be betting that China’s growth and rising oil prices will help emerging markets outperform developed markets.
