Green ETFs are Lagging

The WSJ‘s Cassandra Sweet looks at exchange traded funds with a green focus in the article A Green ETF Seeks Steady Growth.

Sweet profiles the Market Vectors Global Alternative Energy ETF (GEX), a fund that provides targeted exposure to companies worldwide that are engaged in the alternative energy industry.  Although an ETF that tracks a basket of alternative energy stocks provides diversified exposure and more stable returns than an individual stock, GEX is down 10% in 2010 compared to a 4.6% gain for the S&P 500.
