Fidelity and Schwab are fighting for your business with commission free exchange traded funds.
That’s according to Kiplinger‘s recent article Discount Brokers Lower Fees in Battle Over ETFs. Schwab and Fidelity are taking different approaches according to Kiplinger. Fidelity has partnered with iShares to offer commission free trading on 25 funds. Schwab has developed proprietary funds that trade commission free and, in 7 out of 8 cases, have lower expense ratios than comparable iShares funds.
